The flooding of a river in southern China overtook a dam and put at risk to 145,000 residents, while heavy rain affected much of the region, reported state media on Tuesday.
Fu River in Jiangxi province broke a barrier on Monday night and barely officials tried to stem the flow while evacuating residents living near the dam Changkai, said official news agency Xinhua, citing authorities local.
The report said that no one died in the incident and did not say how many residents were evacuated.
Heavy rains in much of southern China last week killed at least 175 people and left some 107 missing after rivers leave their banks and landslides covered roads and train tracks, said Monday Ministry of Civil Affairs.
